How We Calculate This

This calculator first works out how many guests eat dessert (about 85% by default), then multiplies by the pieces each guest takes for your chosen service style: 1 plated portion, ~3 mini pieces at a dessert buffet, or ~2 individual pots or cupcakes.

Formula

  • Guests eating dessert = guests × 85%
  • Pieces per guest = plated 1, buffet 3, individual 2
  • Total pieces = guests eating dessert × pieces per guest
  • Total weight = total pieces × piece size
  • Per variety = total pieces ÷ number of varieties
